Last week, one of my clients in Kurukshetra reported that his credit score (CIBIL) was showing Dhani’s Personal Loan. This was the loan that He did not take and his PAN details were misused by an unknown person.
There are several instances where NBFCs like Dhani disbursed the loan without proper verification.
As a user what we can do to prevent the misuse of pan cards?
- Regularly check your credit score. There are various bureaus like CIBIL, Equifax, Experian, PayTM, etc., One can check their score using any of these options free of cost.
- Report misuse of PAN card on the TIN NSDL website. Go to the link and follow this navigation “Customer Care > Complaint/Queries” https://www.tin-nsdl.com/customerfeedback.html
- Do not share your PAN card everywhere. Wherever it is necessary add a proper remark on that document.
- One can register the online complaint to Cyber cell using this website https://cybercrime.gov.in/
- One can also register his or her written complaints to nearest Police station. In Our case, we did the same and registered complaint to Sadar Thana, Pipli Kurukshetra.
It is a pity that the Government of India has left this loophole and people with only access to PAN card details are doing such corruption. There must be a proper acknowledgment of any transaction happening using a PAN card or other Government ids such as an Aadhar card. With the advancement of technology, we must ensure proper security of data.
